Give Thanks

give thanks

Here in the UK we don't really celebrate Thanksgiving in the same way as our cousins accross the pond, but I've been seeing all the lovely posts on Instagram of people cooking up feasts and spending time with their loved ones! Not only is it making me hungry (and excited for Christmas Dinner!) but it's reminded me that there is so much to be thankful for.

I must admit, I find it hard to feel overly positive at this time of year, what with the cold weather, grey days and dark nights. There are always bouts of the dreaded lurgy going around too and I feel like I might be catching it (bleurgh!) so I have mainly been working from the sofa this week. As I have been snuggled up today with my slippers on, lots of blankets and hot tea, I can't help but feel grateful for what I have. I'm grateful for the little things, my friends and family, and for the roof over my head.

This coming Sunday, it will be a whole year since we bought our first house together, and as we celebrate our little milestone, I can't help but think about those poor people who may not have a home to go to, especially when it's so cold outside. I always try to put my negativity aside and just be grateful. I'm one of those people who buys a hot chocolate for those that are sleeping out in the cold - it's so important to give thanks as well as giving to those in need, even if it's just the smallest gesture - it can go a long way.

I hope you all have a lovely Thanksgiving!
