Make It Happen

Happy weekend everyone! I hope you're all having a lovely Saturday. We've had a simple but productive day - this morning we went to look at possible slabs for our patio (so adult) and then did some bits around the house. I've been working for the remainder of the afternoon whilst hubby made us a scrummy lasagne. It doesn't sound like I achieved much today but I got lots of little jobs done that have been nagging at me so that feels good.

Just a few words of encouragement for those times that you've got things to do but procrastination rears its naughty head - knuckle down and make it happen!

Even though I've read the Harry Potter books a million times and watched the films a million and one, I've been listening to the audio books whilst I've been working and it's been so nice to revisit the stories in a different format. They've really got my creative juices flowing and feeling rather magical.

It's Friday and I am totally ready for the weekend - I hope you all have a magical one and make sure you get up to no good!

Up To No Good

There has been some seriously wild weather going on here the last couple of days. Yesterday we had gale force winds, heavy rain, hail, snow, thunder, bright blue skies and sunny spells all in one day! Not to mention that it is freezing at the moment and I do not do well with cold weather. I'm craving summer and the warmth and I've been seriously daydreaming about my past travels and tropical climates (throwback evidence on my Instagram today!)

Despite yearning for far off hot places, we're going to Iceland in a month for a little getaway which I'm super excited for - I've been a proper travel geek and planned all the sites to see and our daily itinerary. Although it's not somewhere warm and sunny, Iceland has always been on my list of places to go and our little trip should satisfy my wanderlust for a while.

On another note, I will be working on launching my online shop soon and I'm thinking this may be a suitable art print!

It's nearly the weekend so I hope you're all having a lovely week!

My obsession with ancient Egypt has gotten the better of me today. I've always been fascinated with it all - I think its all the gold! I've always totally loved Rhianna's Queen Nefertiti tattoo too and it made me want to create something Egyptian inspired.

Nude and natural hues are definitely my favourite colours at the moment and I love them in collaboration with gold, bronze and coppery tones. I'm also really loving the pattern - I want it as a wallpaper on a feature wall! Maybe one day.

botanical study : iris

This lovely iris has been sitting pretty on my desk for a few days now and this morning it was majorly distracting me (in a good way) from my emails. I felt inspired to create this botanical study and I'm loving the combination of moody tones and the delicate details of the petals.

Originally, I wanted to capture the beautiful deep purple against the yellow speckles but once scanned, the colours just didn't feel natural so I set the image in black and white and I love the way the sultry grey tones really bring out the fine veins in the petals.

I think I might create a series of botanical studies and maybe produce some prints - I really think this would look so nice hung on the wall!

I hope you're all having a lovely Tuesday.
